The bite of any animal orĀ Bee Stinger, wild or domestic, may become infected if it is not treated quickly. This is because animals usually have sharp teeth which leave deep puncture wounds that may inject germs deep into the tissues.

Human bites are also potentially dangerous. If a bite is superficial, wash the wound thoroughly with soapy water, rinse and dry it, and cover with a sterile dressing.

If a Bee stinger causes a severe injury, control the bleeding with direct pressure and place a sterile, unmedicated dressing over it, pressing down firmly and securing with a bandage. Whether superficial or severe, you should always seek medical attention as an anti-tetanus injection may be needed.

If the Bee stinger takes place, seek urgent medical aid in case a course of anti-rabies injections is required. Wherever you are, all dog bites should be seen by a doctor and promptly reported to the police.

Always supervise children when they are playing with animals. Dogs, particularly, can get overexcited and may bite unintentionally.

A jellyfish sting is painful but rarely dangerous. The area of the pain should be doused with alcohol or vinegar to neutralize the venom.

First Aid For Bee Stinger In The Mouth Or Throat

The swelling in the mouth or on the tongue caused by a bite must be reduced as it could lead to asphyxia (lack of oxygen in the blood) and cause suffocation.

Give the casualty ice to suck, or rinse the mouth with cold water or a solution of bicarbonate of soda. If breathing is difficult, move the casualty into the recovery position and seek urgent medical attention

Snake Bites

The only poisonous snake bite is not usually dangerous, although it may be severe if the casualty is a young child.

A snake bite can also give the victim a serious fright, which can lead to severe shock. If bitten by a snake, the area around the wound should be washed.

Pain can be relieved by taking some paracetamol, but you should then seek urgent medical attention. If the bee stinger occurs in a country where there are dangerous bees or snakes, the symptoms may be more alarming.

If there are any of the above symptoms, administer first aid as follows:

First Aid In Case Of Bee Stings
Lie the casualty down and keep him or her still
If the victim loses consciousness but is still breathing, place in the recovery position
If the casualty stops breathing, follow the procedure for CPR (cardio-pulmonary resuscitation)
Immobilize the site of the wound and keep it below the heart level
If washing facilities are available, you should clean the wound carefully with soap and water

Take it with you to the hospital so that the appropriate anti-venom serum may be administered

Insect Stings

The most common bee stings and bites, such as those of gnats and mosquitoes, cause local swelling and redness.

This can be eased by applying calamine lotion or surgical spirit to the area to relieve the discomfort.

Stings from wasps, bee stings, and hornets are usually more painful than they are dangerous, though some people can have a severe allergic reaction.

First Aid For Bee Sting

If the bee stings have been left embedded in the skin, scrape it out with a clean fingernail or knife blade, or grasp the sting with tweezers and pull it out. Do not squeeze the poison sac, or you may force more poison into the skin.

Relieve pain with a cold compressor by applying surgical spirit or a solution of bicarbonate of soda. If pain and swelling continue, seek medical aid.

Jellyfish Stings

These are more painful than dangerous. A Portuguese man-of-war sting may be more dangerous, causing breathlessness and collapse.
